Construction / Sets, Props & Sculpture

One-off props &
sculptural pieces.

When a production or an exhibition needs one particular thing made - a sculptural object, a hero prop, a piece of precision joinery - our scenic art and fabrication teams make it. Timber, steel, polystyrene carving, CNC routing and scenic finish, from a one-off prop for the stage to interpretive sculpture for a gallery. Made in-house in Preston.

The makers

From the drawing to the carved piece.

CNC routing gives us precise, repeatable cutting and patterning; our fabricators and scenic artists take it from there - polystyrene carving, metalwork, carpentry and finish.

It is the same skill set behind our gallery sculpture and our stage scenery, pointed at whatever single piece you need made.

How we make it

Drawn, cut,
carved, finished.

Every one-off runs through the same four hands - from the pattern to the paint - in our Preston workshop.

01

Design & pattern

We turn a concept or a drawing into a pattern that can be cut and built accurately.

02

CNC & fabricate

CNC routing for precision and repeatability, then fabrication in timber, steel and composite.

03

Sculpt & carve

Polystyrene carving, sculpture and metalwork for the pieces that have to be shaped by hand.

04

Scenic finish

Paint, texture and surface from our scenic art team, so the piece reads right under lights or in the case.

Questions

Good to know.

Can you make a single one-off piece?

Yes. A single hero prop, a sculptural object or a piece of precision joinery - our scenic art and fabrication teams make one-offs to order.

Do you do CNC routing?

Yes. We use CNC routing for precise, repeatable cutting and patterning in timber and composite, which feeds straight into our fabrication and scenic work.

Do you sculpt and carve?

Yes. Polystyrene carving, sculpture, metalwork and carpentry are all part of the skill set, finished by our scenic art team.

For the stage or the gallery?

Both. We make props and sculptural pieces for theatre productions, and interpretive sculpture and objects for museums and galleries.

Are you still operating after the change of ownership?

Yes. The workshop is open and the team is at the bench. Show Works is now part of Theatre Safe Australia, with the national resources of TSA behind the work.

Need something made?

One prop, one sculpture, one precise piece - tell us what it is and we will draw it, cut it and finish it.
