Panny's Chocolate Factory - Phillip Island - 2008
On Phillip Island, Panny's Chocolates are an institution and in the middle of 2008, work commenced on turning this institution into not just a great chocolate factory but also a great chocolate experience.
Show Works were invited to collaborate with the designers, Megafun, in realising a series of fascinating chocolate installations. These included constructing a solid corridor of chocolate, a chocolate mosaic, a set of scales that could support a tonne of chocolate on one side and the equivalent weight of visitors on the other and a trough designed to hold 200Kgs of molten chocolate capable of tipping over every 3 minutes creating a solid curtain of chocolate.
Show Works also built, as a permanent installation, a machine for producing designer chocolate bars! The machine offers the choice of Milk, Dark or White Chocolate along with a range of "challenging" flavours: Strawberry, Cola, Wasabi and Vegemite! Only the brave or stupid select all four at once!
The machine is comprised of a series of MDF boxes with automated mixing and selection devices along with Panny's own secret production and selection methods. The work show cases what Show Works can achieve using the whole range of available skills including cabinetry, metal working, engineering, painting and prop making. This professional installation was achieved on timeand on budget.
